Today I joined Mayor Eric Garcetti and Chief Michel Moore to share our continued progress and efforts to keep Angelenos safe. In 2019, crime went down in every major category in our city — including violent and property crime, and the lowest number of homicides since the 1960s. This success is due to the collaboration and partnership between law enforcement and the community.
I’m especially proud to help expand the Community Safety Partnership (CSP) program and bring it to Pacoima at the San Fernando Gardens. This community policing program will work with residents to develop youth programs, beautify the neighborhood and help with job training, counseling and other needs. In return, the CSP will help assure more positive relations and support the critical intervention work for our youth. In addition, our efforts to invest in technology and will allow more officers on our streets and help create safer neighborhoods. We’re starting the new decade in the right direction and I look forward to our continued efforts to keep our neighborhoods safe.
