Please be advised of the following updates for the 2020 Brush Clearance Program due to COVID-19. This site is frequently updated so check back often.
The Los Angeles Fire Department’s (LAFD) Brush Clearance Unit’s (BCU) response to the (COVID-19) pandemic has been evolving at a rapid pace. During this extremely difficult and unprecedented time, our mission and commitment to the health and safety of the public and our Members continue to be of utmost importance.
Brush Fires continue to be a threat to life and property within the Very High Fire Hazard Severity Zone.
BRUSH CLEARANCE SEASON WILL BE DELAYED. THE NEW DATE FOR THE 2020 SEASON WILL COMMENCE JUNE 1, 2020. NOTE: THIS DATE MAY CHANGE AS WE ASSESS THE PUBLIC HEALTH NEEDS RELATED TO COVID-19.
All parcel owners can anticipate the LAFD’s efforts toward Brush Clearance will proceed. We will make every effort to ensure all impacted parcel owners remain well informed and updated on any necessary changes to our operation.
The implementation of inspections for private parcels will be delayed. The new due date for Brush Clearance is June 1, 2020.
ALL FIRE/LIFE SAFETY BRUSH NOTICE VIOLATIONS – DUE DATES WILL BE EXTENDED FROM 15 TO 45 DAYS FROM THE DATE OF THE INITIAL INSPECTION.
BRUSH INSPECTORS WILL BE PRACTICING SOCIAL DISTANCING IN THE COURSE OF THEIR DUTIES AND DISCONTINUING IN-PERSON MEETINGS UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE. WE ASK FOR COOPERATION AND PATIENCE TO ENSURE THE SAFETY OF ALL INVOLVED PARTIES.
