Today, California officially reopens! The color-coded state reopening system is no longer in effect, capacity limits are lifted, physical distancing requirements are no longer required and mask mandates are less stringent.
Masks are still required for any form of public transit, transportation hubs, healthcare settings, indoors at K-12 schools and childcare facilities, state and local correctional facilities and detention centers, homeless shelters, emergency shelters and cooling centers. Masks are also required for unvaccinated and partially vaccinated individuals in indoor public settings and businesses. Workplaces are subject to Cal/OSHA COVID-19 requirements. Businesses may still require masks and must clearly communicate masking requirements for their premises. We still need to remain vigilant and get vaccinated. In general people, are considered fully vaccinated:
-Two weeks after their second dose in a 2-dose series, such as the Pfizer or Moderna vaccines, or
-Two weeks after a single-dose vaccine, such as Johnson & Johnson’s Janssen vaccine
If you don’t meet these requirements, regardless of your age, you are NOT fully vaccinated. Residents of the Seventh Council District are eligible to receive a free vaccine at our pop-up vaccine site at the Sylmar Recreation Center located at 13109 Borden Avenue, Sylmar, CA 91342 every Tuesday to Saturday. This week’s hours are from 9 AM to 3 PM. No appointments are needed.
