From Assemblymember Luz Rivas Desk – In Memory of Rod Garcia, Founder of the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers (SHPE)

I adjourned in memory of Rod Garcia, founder of the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers (SHPE). Rod Garcia founded the organization inside his garage. It started off as an organization with only 6 members ultimately becoming the largest Latino Engineering organization in the nation. He leaves a long-lasting legacy behind for Latinos in engineering, his friends and family.
