September’s record breaking heat wave could have been worse had it not been for Californians’ aggressive conservation measures. Climate change is increasing our energy demand while the state is in the process of transitioning our electrical grid to be clean, renewable, and reliable.
Moving forward we need to be proactive about procuring greater clean resources and bringing them online as quickly as possible. We cannot continue to depend on ratepayer conservation actions to prevent rolling black outs. Californians deserve to have access to clean, affordable, and reliable power sources.
I look forward to working with the Legislature and state agencies to accomplish these goals.
