It is my pleasure to recognize Patricia (Pat) Austin for Black History Month.
Prior to moving to Los Angeles, Pat Austin received her Bachelor’s Degree from Marshall University and completed additional coursework at the University of Pittsburgh in Pennsylvania.
During the 1960s and 1970s, she served as a Civil Rights and Community Activist working with students and national leaders and leading a movement to desegregate lunch counters and other public facilities in Pittsburgh.
Currently, Pat Austin serves as the Executive Director of the Valley InterCommunity Council’s Alicia Broadous-Duncan Multipurpose Senior Center in Pacoima. She plays a critical role in getting our seniors connected to local and state resources.
Pat, you are deserving of this recognition. Thank you for your leadership during the Civil Rights movement, and thank you for community work in #AD43. #BlackHistoryMonth
