Last week was another busy week at City Hall! Please note that City Council will be in recess until the week of April 10, 2023.
– I introduced a motion requesting the city to rename the mid-block pedestrian crosswalks through Grand Park as the “Gloria Molina Legacy Pathway”. The pathway will connect Los Angeles City Hall and the Los Angeles County Hall of Administration, to reflect the steps Gloria Molina took throughout her trailblazing career.
– I further introduced a resolution in support of the Countyโs motion to rename Grand Park after Gloria Molina. Over her 23 years as a Los Angeles County Supervisor, Gloria Molina had countless achievements but her vision for bringing to fruition Grand Park โ the Park for Everyone is a testament to her determination.
– On Wednesday, the City Council adopted my motion that seeks to expand the CD 7 Recreational Vehicle (RV) Pilot Program citywide. This process will streamline efforts to create a more cost effective and expedited approach to addressing the over-complicated and multifaceted homelessness crisis on our streets.
– In the City of Los Angeles, a Civil + Human Rights and Equity Department report (CF 22-0102) revealed that Hispanic/Latina women accounted for 50.5% of female domestic violence victims, 42.8% of female homicides, 36.7% of missing women, 28,368 cases of aggravated assault among women, and the highest among rape victims. It is why I introduced a motion requesting city departments to report on curriculum-based self defense programing by geographical area that have been or are currently being offered throughout the City of Los Angeles.
