From Councilwoman Monica Rodriguez Desk – Congratulations to the Pioneer Woman of the Year from the Seventh District, Kim Olsen!

Congratulations to the Pioneer Woman of the Year from the Seventh District, Kim Olsen!

The Pioneer Women Awards honor individuals advocating for gender equality and empowering women and girls in Los Angeles. Los Angeles Civil + Human Rights and Equity Department hosted a breakfast and awards ceremony to celebrate the 33rd Pioneer Women Awards under the theme “Locking Arms to Solve Homelessness.”

I express my sincere gratitude for the opportunity to honor Kim Olsen. Her invaluable contributions and partnership have been instrumental in addressing homelessness in CD7. As Executive Director of West Valley Homes Yes (WVHY), Kim focuses on supporting better housing, health outcomes, and overall well-being for our homeless neighbors.

Kim Olsen and WVHY have established a comprehensive process aimed at providing support and housing solutions for those living in RVs while also ensuring the removal of these vehicles from city streets.

Thanks to her innovative process, we are progressing towards implementing a comprehensive approach and establishing a blueprint that will aid individuals living in vehicles throughout the entire city.

Kim Olsen
