Following the devastating La Tuna Fire in September 2017, our district saw a great deal of debris flow along the burned hillsides following the rainy season. In March of 2018, heavy rains caused a large sinkhole which threatened the stability of La Tuna Canyon Road.
My office worked closely with the Bureau of Engineering to secure over $4 million in funding for this massive reconstruction project, which included debris removal/dewatering, replacement of the large storm drain pipe that runs beneath the road, completion of new inlet and outlet structures, installation of secondary drainage infrastructure, and reconstructing the embankment itself. I am pleased to announce the completion of this project and enhanced safety measures put in place to protect the public. If you have any questions about this project, COVID-19, or any other issue in the district, please do not hesitate to contact my Pacoima District Office at (818) 485-0600 or Sylmar District Office at (818)-756-8409.
