Press Release Update on the RVs at Hubbard Street.

“While this case continued through the court system we recognized the severity and grave circumstances with this private property and worked with great urgency to alleviate the impacts for both the individuals living on the property and neighboring residents. In advance of the court-ordered 4-day vacate notice issued today, we operated with measured discretion and urgency for the protection of the residents on the property. In collaboration with our Emergency Management and Recreation and Parks Departments, we quickly assembled emergency shelter and housing relocation assistance through a partnership with the Los Angeles Housing Department and the Los Angeles Homeless Services Authority. Media attention has inhibited and stalled residents of the property from seeking assistance. The conditions on this private property are an exploitation of vulnerable people seeking housing, and I am thankful for the success of our coordinated response that brings some immediate resolution for neighbors and residents at the property in question,” said Councilwoman Rodriguez.

I was proud to sponsor a visit for the Youth Program at North Valley Caring Services (NVCS) to visit Hansen Dam. My office provided students with tickets and arranged for two buses to transport them on this special day.

For many children in the Northeast San Fernando Valley, opportunities for field trips are limited. Recognizing this, our office embraced the chance to support NVCS and continue our commitment to the youth in our district.

If you’d like to learn more about North Valley Caring Services and their incredible community work, please visit their website at https://www.nvcsinc.org/programs.

I was proud to join my colleagues Senator Ben Allen and Assemblymember Eduardo Garcia for a Climate Bond Roundtable in LA County to discuss the need for a state bond that reflects the diversity and priorities of our communities facing the brunt of climate change and extreme heat.

As Chair of the Natural Resources Committee and the LA County Delegation, I am committed to ensuring that we promote priorities that are important to our LA communities and state natural resources.

Bond investments are generational opportunities, and I would like to thank the authors for providing the opportunity to have a conversation on the importance of fostering resilience, protecting our natural resources, and improving the lives of all Californians.

Thank you to the Resources Legacy Fund and LA County Parks and Recreation for your leadership and coordination on this timely roundtable.

Last month, two concerned residents called my office regarding a damaged wooden pole on Foothill Blvd. and Tyler St. in Sylmar. Immediately, my staff worked closely with the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power (LADWP) to replace the wooden pole.

Thank you to Mr. Cody Wray for leading this power pole replacement work order.
