Met with Paris City Officials

Met with Paris city officials to discuss #ExtremeHeat & climate adaptation!

Mitigating extreme heat is a #ClimatePolicy priority of mine and I was proud to deliver $100 million in funds with this year’s budget for local entities to combat extreme heat. In communities like the ones I represent in #AD39, extreme heat disproportionately affects low-income families, communities of color, and our vulnerable populations like our seniors and children.

Celebrated the Ribbon Cutting

As part of my continued effort to improve public safety, we celebrated the ribbon cutting of new trail marker signs at Hansen Dam that will assist with locating people in an emergency. The Hansen Dam Recreational Area is a 1,449.54 acre facility. The 29 new signs include a new trailhead sign and mile markers that mark the trail in a grid system. Signs are in English, Spanish, and Braille and include location information that can be shared with the park ranger station. This new system will assist park users in better communicating their location to park rangers in an emergency by using the GPS coordinates associated with each sign.

The cool pavement treatment will be applied to 35 street segments totaling 11.1 pavement miles and 185 new trees will be planted along these streets. I prioritized segments along the corridors around schools and recreation areas where our youth walk and play.
