AT&T Invest in California Grant

Last Tuesday, I had the opportunity to present two non-profit organizations in my district with the AT&T Invest in California Grant.

This grant is dedicated to uplift non-profit organizations that provide educational and growth opportunities to constituents.

This year, I proudly nominated Vida Mobile Clinic and Tia Chucha’s Centro Cultural & Bookstore! I look forward to seeing both of these organizations continue to thrive in #AD39.

Condolences to the Family of George Holliday

My condolences to the family of George Holliday, a former #LakeViewTerrace and #AD39 resident, who passed away. George was responsible for recording Rodney King’s beating.

George’s courage to share this footage with the nation shined a light on the injustices our communities of color face every day, and brought on the advent of citizen journalism. This type of journalism would go on to play a critical role in the trial seeking justice for #GeorgeFloyd’s death and pushes for more accountability in our local communities.

Rest in peace, George Holliday.

Operation Bright S.P.O.T. Fox

I recently joined the Operation Bright S.P.O.T. fox to clean along the stretch of Glenoaks Boulevard between Osborne Street and Gain Street. The Operation Bright S.P.O.T. team can be found throughout our district cleaning graffiti, power washing sidewalks, picking up bulky items, clearing litter, removing overgrown vegetation, and street sweeping our roadways. In the next few weeks, the Operation Bright S.P.O.T. fox is going to be busy cleaning up a commercial corridor near you. If you spot the fox in your neighborhood, snap a pic and share it on social media with #spotthefoxcd7.

If you have a corridor in mind that may benefit from Operation Bright S.P.O.T., please call the Pacoima office at (818) 485-0600, Sylmar office at (818) 756-8409, or Sunland-Tujunga office at (818) 352-3287. It takes all of us working together to ensure our community is clean.

Hansen Dam Baseball Fields

After learning of the years of delays on the Hansen Dam Baseball fields, I prioritized this project to deliver long overdue improvements to the community. On Sunday, September 12, 2021, we celebrated a ribbon cutting and enjoyed a baseball game on the new fields.

The improvements included refurbishing the three existing baseball fields, and adding new restrooms, lighting, bleachers, and fencing. A total of $540,000 in investments was made to this field used by the Pacoima Little League.

Thank you to the City of Los Angeles Bureau of Engineering, City of Los Angeles Department of Recreation and Parks, and to the community for your support and partnership. To join the Pacoima Little League team, please call (818) 897-3388 for more information.

My staff conducts weekly community drives throughout the district and reports any neighborhood violations, such as graffiti, illegal dumping, bulky items, and much more. Recently, my staff identified trash and bulky items on Remick Avenue and Chamberlain Street. In partnership with the Bureau of Sanitation, we removed the bulky items and picked up trash.
