Resurfacing of Franlie Drive

I am pleased to share that my office worked closely with the Bureau of Street Services (BSS) to prioritize the recent resurfacing of Franlie Drive between Fenwick Street and Foothill Boulevard, after receiving requests for resurfacing from concerned residents. Franlie Dr. had not been resurfaced in many years and was in very poor condition.

In addition, BSS, resurfaced several other street segments in the area, including Vanora Dr., Olive Grove Ave., and Hillrose St. in Sunland, as well as Nohles Dr. and Hillrose St. in Shadow Hills. The resurfacing of this neighborhood is now complete, increasing both drivability and safety along these streets.

For more information on upcoming resurfacing projects in the district, please visit the Streets LA website at https://streetsla.lacity.org/ and select ‘Road Repair’. If you have any questions or would like to recommend another street in the area in need of resurfacing, please contact my Sylmar District Office at (818) 756-8409, Pacoima District Office at (818) 485-0600, or Sunland-Tujunga District Office at (818) 352-3287.

I am proud to say that the 2nd Tiny Homes in #NorthHollywood is in #AD39!

#TinyHomes are made possible through public and private partnerships from the state and local jurisdictions. I would like to thank my city colleagues for all of their work, Caltrans District 7 for making this location possible, and Hope of the Valley Rescue Mission for hosting a tour of the site today, and for all of their ongoing efforts to provide a safe place for our unhoused neighbors to call home while they are on the journey to permanent housing.

I am proud to say that

Showcasing and Educating this 9/11 MemorialShowcasing and Educating this 9/11 Memorial

Sept. 11, 20 years ago, the American spirit was put to a test.

Not only did today change the lives of Americans across the country, but the sense of uncertainty roamed our communities. Nevertheless, the American spirit showed resilience and prevailed in this tragedy.

As a remembrance to those who lost their lives, the leadership students from Sun Valley Magnet School put together an honorable memorial on their campus. This memorial showcases a simulation of the Dulles International Airport on the morning of 9/11. Throughout the exhibition, viewers will interact with scenes and factual statements of this tragic day. The students lastly walked viewers through the Pentagon exhibition, followed by a wall of handwritten names of those who lost their lives.

Thank you to Sun Valley Magnet School for showcasing and educating this 9/11 Memorial to our community. This has exemplified the devotion of the American spirit.
