Every March during Women’s History Month, I honor women from the 30th Congressional District who have improved the quality of life in our community. Our 2023 nomination season is open, and we’re soliciting your help to identify outstanding women who have made a difference.

I am proud my district is home to so many incredible women – brilliant and hardworking individuals, many of them leaders in their fields, who go above and beyond to share their wisdom and passions with their neighbors, and to enrich our communities day in and day out. I’m excited to recognize their exemplary work again this year.

The honorees must live within the 30th congressional district, which after redistricting includes new neighbors like Hancock Park, Mid-Wilshire, Miracle Mile, Park La Brea, Larchmont Village and Windsor Village.

The deadline to nominate is February 28, 2023.

Dear neighbors,

We have been in touch with LADWP about the outage in Arleta. They have reported that they are at level 3 response which is their defcon 1. This is the level of natural disaster and all crews are activated. There are 50000 customers that are without power in the city at large.

About 300 are being reported out of power in Arleta, and they have crews working on the neighborhood outages.
Given the extreme weather event they are unable to guarantee a time of when power will be restored. It’s possible that residents may be without power over 24 hours. We are being told they are hoping to have power restored by later this evening.

While crews work to restore power please use a flashlight instead of candles, as a light source.

Switch off all lights, except for one, so you will know when your power has been restored. Once your power is restored, it may require you to reset your circuit breaker for the lights to come back on. Keep your refrigerator closed to keep food cold. Lastly, check on vulnerable friends and neighbors to make sure they are safe.

We encourage all customers to sign up to receive LADWP’s community outage alerts in English or Spanish via phone and/or email. Sign up at: ladwp.com/OutageAlert.
If you experienced a power outage report it online at com/outages or by calling 1-800-DIAL-DWP (1-800-342-5397). Note that the call line is experiencing higher than usual wait time.

This weekend’s winter storm has caused power outages and severe flooding across Los Angeles, including many residents in the Northeast San Fernando Valley. While some customers have had service restored, there are still many homes without power. LADWP crews are working around the clock to restore power as quickly as possible.

In preparation for next week’s storm, I have gathered the following resources to guide you on where to sign up for power outage alerts, report power outages, clogged storm drains, downed trees, and downed power lines. You can also visit the following sites to grab the necessary sand and sandbags needed to protect your property from possible mudslides or flooding.
