The first day City Council was back in session. With the election of a new Councilmember to serve Council District 6, committee assignments for the Council were amended by the Council President. I am proud to continue to serve as Chair of the Public Safety Committee. As a daughter of a firefighter who cares deeply about making Los Angeles a safer city, I will continue to fight for a comprehensive public safety strategy that considers all of our community’s needs and has transparency and accountability for the funding provided. I also appreciate the opportunity to continue to serve as a member of the Budget, Finance, and Innovation Committee, Homelessness and Housing Committee, Civil Rights, Immigration and Equity Committee, and AdHoc Olympics Committee.

As I continue to serve as Chair of the Public Safety Committee, I encourage all to attend the various National Night events in the City of Los Angeles. National Night Out is an annual community-building campaign that promotes partnerships and camaraderie to make our neighborhoods safer, more caring places to live. National Night Out enhances the relationship between neighbors and law enforcement while building a true sense of community.

Met an impressive class of Armenian Assembly of America interns today.

We talked about the dangers to the people of Artsakh, and the importance of the work they do to inform Congress and the Administration of the risks of war.
I shared my experience as an intern and they shared theirs.

The Armenian-American diaspora is strong and determined. I’m proud to know these young future leaders.

It is essential that election workers be able to do their jobs without fear of being smeared or injured.

The lies told by Donald Trump and Rudy Giuliani about the 2020 election put the lives of election workers at risk. As long as Trump and his enablers persist in these falsehoods, so must we persist in exposing the truth.

Proud to stand with the creative minds of Writers Guild of America West at Warner Brothers Studios!

As Chair of the LA County Delegation and representative of the East San Fernando Valley, I’m proud to stand in support of our writers’ rights and fair treatment in the entertainment industry. The entertainment industry plays a vital role in California’s economy. It supports a thriving creative industry, sustains jobs and employment opportunities, fosters innovation, attracts productions, boosts state revenue, and enhances the state’s cultural and social impact through compelling storytelling. By standing up for fair treatment and creative freedom, the writers’ advocacy efforts contribute to a stronger and more resilient economy in California.

Let’s champion creativity, innovation, and the power of storytelling together!

The California Commission on the Status of Women and Girls has awarded $60,000 to the Teen Project Inc. under the Women’s Recovery Response Program. This program came from one-time funding that was allocated by the legislature to invest in women’s economic recovery from the pandemic.

Teen Project Inc. in Sun Valley provides treatment and housing to female transitional-aged youth coming out of foster care, the correctional justice system, homelessness, and human trafficking. This funding will assist in building their job training and employment assistance to help participants transition out of services and into recovery or permanent housing.
Congratulations to Teen Project Inc. on this incredible investment!
